The street sweeper will be sweeping Route 4 today.Updated 1/13/26 8:08 AM |
The City of Oregon City strives to keep our streets and sidewalks clean and safe. We sweep our streets in a zonal order prioritized based on traffic and debris issues. Generally, we do not vary from these routes to sweep individual streets based on requests. If there is broken glass or other hazards in the road which require urgent attention, please call us at 971-204-4600 or submit a request for the street sweeper here.
Our street sweepers are nearly fourteen feet tall, and the operators have been instructed not to drive their equipment into tree branches. If trees are not trimmed up properly, the sweepers will not be able to get all the way to the curb. It is the responsibility of the abutting property owner for the maintenance of street trees per Oregon City Municipal Code 12.08.025 - General tree maintenance.
Street sweeper operators know the garbage routes and will not sweep on garbage days. However, if your garbage can is in the street any other day than garbage day, street sweeper operators have been instructed to sweep by the garbage cans and will not return until it is time to sweep that route again.
Lastly, do not blow the leaves from your front yard into the street. Placing or blowing yard debris within the public right-of-way is considered illegal dumping and contributes to flooding caused by plugged catch basins. Weekly curbside pickup of yard debris is included with garbage service, and leaves should be disposed of in this manner—or better yet, add them to your compost pile.
