Preventive Pavement Maintenance
Every year the City uses the Pavement Maintenance Utility Fee (PMUF) paid on utility bills to perform maintenance work on roadways. This program includes surface treatments such as asphalt paving, slurry seal, and chip seal. Below is a list of the roads receiving treatment.
In-House Paving (Spring and Summer)
In-house pavement maintenance is performed during the spring and summer months by city employees and augmented with seasonal workers. The Street Division work can include anything from pothole repair or spot repair of small pavement failures to larger-scale paving projects. These larger scale projects include milling and paving inlays and the complete overlay of city streets.

Slurry Seal (early August)
Slurry seal is the process of applying a very thin layer of liquid asphalt and sand to seal the street surface. It is a preventive maintenance treatment that is applied early in the life of a roadway to prolong the life of the surface. The curing time for slurry seal is a minimum of 6 hours.
Do not touch the seal until it is dry and keep children and pets away from sealed streets.
Preparation
Please turn off your watering system by midnight the night before work is scheduled to begin.
Isolated Closures
During the slurry seal application, there will be no on street parking permitted while the project is under construction. The closure of each street segment is required for one weekday to all but emergency vehicles from 7:00 AM until approximately 6 hours after the application of the slurry seal.
Removal of Slurry Seal
Slurry seal is difficult to remove from cars, clothing, tires, feet, and pets. Try to remove seal as soon as possible with soap and water. If that does not work, a solvent, such as kerosene, turpentine, or a household de-greaser is recommended.
A list of streets receiving slurry seal treatment during the Summer of 2026 will be listed here once finalized.
Crack Seal (June 1 - September 30)
Crack sealing is the process of placing an adhesive sealant into cracks on the pavement surface, preventing the infiltration of moisture and non-compressible materials into the pavement.
The Streets Division will be applying crack seal in preparation of the 2026 slurry seal project. Signs will be placed out along the impacted streets approximately 3 - 4 days in advance of the scheduled work.
A list of streets receiving crack seal treatment during the Summer of 2026 will be listed here once finalized.
Micro-Chip Seal (June 1 - September 30)
A list of streets receiving crack seal treatment during the Summer of 2026 will be listed here once finalized.
