WILEY B. MAY RESIDENCE c.1867 -- Statement of Significance: Wiley B. May was a laborer in Canemah. He could have worked in the mills, or he may have been a boat builder or in some other way worked in relation to the steamboat building industry. He was born in Illinois in 1836. In 1857, he married Virginia Washam, who was born in Kentucky in 1842. They had five children. Later he married Narcissa (913 4th Avenue), who herself later married William Bowers. This house is significant for its age and its association with the May family, long-time Cahemah residents. In the NR District, it is classified as a Primary structure.
