The 2015 Memorial Day event was a success with attendance estimated to be over 300 people!
As always the VFW did the rifle gun salute. The fire department was present with one fire truck to present flowers and honor a fallen fireman. The police department also presented flowers and had a K9 unit here for the event. The guest speaker was James McDonald, who is a retired U.S. Navy Chief Petty Officer. Grand View Baptist Church Pastor Mike Mutchler performed the invocation and benediction for the ceremony.
Flags were placed on the graves of veterans with the help of Grand View Baptist Church and a local Boy Scout Troop. Wonderful music included the National Anthem sung by Anna-Marie Wood and Gardiner Middle School Band, who played several songs. Randy Leasure played taps, marking his 46th year playing for our event. JROTC helped prepare the cemetery for the event as well as performing the Presentation of Colors for the event. The cemetery staff worked hard to get the cemetery ready for this annual event which was a success.
