WILLIAM AND LOUISA FREEMAN RESIDENCE c.1898 -- Statement of Significance: William Freeman was a Civil War veteran who ran a saloon in Oregon City for many years. He and his wife, Louisa, who emigrated from Nebraska in 1888, had several children. He died at the age of 82 in 1923. Shortly before that, his son Fred and his family moved into the house from their house next door at 214 Jerome Street. The house is of some interest because of its association with William Freeman, a long-time resident of Canemah. The house itself has been altered. The house is classified as a Compatible structure.
