JOHN AND EMMA WILKERSON RENTAL c.1904 -- Statement of Significance: John Wilkerson worked in the Oregon City Woolen Mills. His wife, Emma, taught Sunday school in Canemah. The Wilkersons owned several pieces of property in Canemah and Oregon City, which is where Mrs. Wilkerson moved (1207 Main Street) around 1910. Mr. Wilkerson died before the first World War; Mrs. Wilkerson died in the early 1930s. The decorative brackets and bargeboard on this house give it some architectural significance, since such detailing is not typical of houses of this era in Canemah, although much elaborate architectural detailing exists on houses built at this time in Oregon City. In the Canemah NR District, the house is classified as a Secondary structure.
