Community Service Officer

The Community Service Officer performs law enforcement-related community services work that does not require the enforcement authority of a sworn police officer. The Community Service Officer (CSO) takes information on crimes or incidents that are of a non-emergency nature. The CSO also provides customer information on laws and basic mediation and counseling referral to families, the homeless, the disabled, and the elderly. The Oregon City Police Department has one Community Service Officer who works Monday through Friday 8 am to 4 pm. The CSO assists the patrol officers by taking minor offense calls that can be handled over the telephone or at the front lobby of the police department. A majority of the crime reports that our CSO takes are Identity Theft and Frauds since most of the time these incidents/scams do not have definitive suspect information that can be followed up on.
