The City Commission approved a change in the business license process on Nov. 1, which will result in a cost savings for both new businesses and those with licenses being renewed.

- No application fee for new business applicants (previously, was $60)
- Business license fees will be prorated based on the remaining months in the year.

OTHER CHANGES:
- Renewal period is from December 1st to January 31st.
- Late charge is $125 per month beginning February 1st with a cap of $500.
- New Temporary Business License Category (up to two-week period for $50, no limit on number granted).
- 501(C)(3) Non-profits with proof of legal status must have a business license but no charge for license.
- Incomplete applications will expire within 30 days.
EXEMPTIONS:
- Vendors registered with the organizers of events held in the public right-of-way are exempt from business license requirements.
- A list of vendors must be submitted to the Econ. Dev. Dept. at least one day prior to start date of event.
- Farmers Market – Only primary organizer is required to obtain a business license.
- A list of vendors must be submitted to the Econ. Dev. Dept. at least one day prior to opening day.
- Residential and commercial builders with no primary office in Oregon City, with proof of valid builders’ business license issued by Metro are exempt.
